Diane Sawyer did an hour long special on Gabby’s recovery a couple months ago. It’s long, but well worth watching. They take an in-depth look at her rehabilitation and therapy. It’s truly amazing.
Thanks for this Sue, it really is an amazing story. I hope she has a long and happy life. Not many people know this but my sister had a traumatic brain injury over 20 years ago and the road back and how far you come is fraught with pitfalls, setbacks, disappointment and joy. They’re smart to focus on it wholeheartedly.
Sue, thanks for top posting this. It deserves it. Many of the faculty in my department have clinical roles as well as teaching and sometimes research roles. For some, their clinical work and research focuses on those with TBI. It is indeed a long and arduous road that requires full focus. It is particularly sad for those who do not have a strong family/support system.
I think all, progressives and conservatives alike, wish Gabby the best in her continued recovery.
I was really moved and fascinated with the Diane Sawyer piece, and thought it was quite generous that she and Mark allowed the public in so close to see how her therapy was conducted, her good days and struggles. It’s was just simply remarkable.

I thanked OKIE for linking to this in a comment, but I agree it deserved a post of its own.
Thank you, Sue.
