It appears that the blogger upgrade to threaded comments is currently unusable in an IE browser, and ATiM has a couple of significant contributors who are unfortunately forced to use IE, at least during the day. Since we do not want to lose them, lms and I have agreed to revert back to the so-called full page comments style for now, meaning the comment box will not exist at the bottom of the post page, but you will instead be directed to a new page to enter any comments. Again, this is not ideal, but the alternative is that ATiM will lose two of its more prolific contributors, which would be unacceptable. I’ll keep looking for a way around this problem, as I hope will Kevin. If anyone else has suggestions, let us know. In the meantime, I expect qb and ashot to produce some earth shattering posts and comments at which we will all gaze in awe while wondering to ourselves “Now that’s why we’re dealing with this cumbersome comments system.” No pressure, though.

Thanks scottI'd also like to see if McWing can cut and paste…..not sure what the issues is there but that's no good. I'll go back and read scott's link and MsJS' Tampa piece also. But first, here's what I found to be the easiest way for me to navigate this awkward format. When you first sign in go to design and click posts. You'll see a list of all the posts and you can click on one and it will open a new tab, and then another etc. Right now I have three tabs open, the "all posts" tab, MsJS' Mayhem piece and this one. Now it's easier to comment back and forth between the two pieces. If you want to go back into view mode simply go back to the all posts tab and click on view underneath the post you want to view. You can also click the "show original post" at the top of this page so you can read scotts words and the comments all in one handy dandy page. You'll be doing a lot of scrolling so get used to that.Maybe someone else has a better idea and if so please speak up. This will take some getting used to but until we can get around the IE issue or develop another blog, this is what we've got. Maybe we'll grow to love it?

lms: cut and paste works in this mode.

lms:Yes, I am pretty sure the cut and paste problem I had on my ipad is the same problem McWing had.

So that should take care of McWing's problem correct?

Yes, cut and paste should work now.

Got it………..jeeze, we've repeated ourselves about 10 times now….lolLike I said this is going to take some getting used to. For some reason I wish the comment box was at the bottom of the page…..but I'm not going to start whining…..I'll lead by example. 😉

It's working for me on IE so thanks for enduring this format for the likes of me and QB. If I manage to get rid of IE, I'll let you guys know.

Haaaahaaaa scott, Radar O'Reilly, I'm heads your tails. (Hope you get this joke, yesterday's seemed to go over your head).Great ash, qb said he'll check in later but I assume he'll be okay also, if we can drag him away from the Plumline. 😉

If you click on "recent comments" on the rights side of the blog, it sends you to the appropriate post and the comments are displayed directly below the post, not in a new window. Who designed such a thing? If you want to comment though, you still end up in a new window. Not sure that is anymore convenient than opening a new widow, but I thought I would mention it.

ashI just keep flipping back and forth between 3 comment boxes and hitting refresh each time. It's definitely clunky though and remember this format always an option when we first initiated the blog, one we rejected…lol

Ok, it let's me cut and paste now. Sorry about the delay (I pronounce "about" in the "Canadian" vernacular, like "a-boot.". Just as FYI.)

One thing you can do is track the new comments in the "all posts" page. If you just hit refresh you can tell by the number of comments if there's a new one. I just watch that page and then can go read new comments as they appear.

"a-boot", you do not…..you're from Texas. I've been to Texas. Good luck, obviously Scott says it works.

Ok, that works. Now we can get back to the business of getting ashot to add CafeHayek to his favorites on his web browser..

I think the best way to keep track of comments is the way Scott suggested. You click on "New Post" at the top of the ATiM home page, then click on the comments tab. You can just refresh that page occasionally and see new comments come up on each thread. You can read the whole comment from there too. Granted, you now have to click two times in order to respond to a comment, but being able to read the comment is worth the extra click. Oh and you're a hoser, TMW.

Okay ash, I'll try that, even though it was Scott's suggestion….;) I'm leaving now to start over.

ash, you don't click on "new post", you click on "design" and then "comments". I still like my way better but either one works.

Also, you can click back and forth between "posts" and "comments" from the "design" page, so they both work. Just leave that page open as your first page and it's easy peasy.

ashot:I've been wondering about your moniker. Is it "a shot in the dark" as in Peter Sellers and Elke Sommers, or is it "as hot in the dark" as in "I am as hot in the dark as I appear to be in the bright light of day"? Just curious.Markets going crazy…relentless rally in the bond market. Probably not posting much today.

Ash, I just got the "hoser" reference, eh?

Scott- The name is more a self-deprecating comment than anything. I certainly don't have the answers and I am less infomred than many of you on much of what we discuss here, but I'll take a shot at throwing out an answer or opinion.
