Mark adds that Texans sometimes can almost unanimously get it right!

Thinks he is popular in Lubbock…

Craig James is camera-friendly, but Texas voters don’t seem to see him as their next senator.(Getty Images)

For those of you who don’t like Craig James — and judging from polls and other measuring sticks, that’s pretty much everybody — his campaign for U.S. Senate has been like the 12 days of Christmas, with enough goodies left over to celebrate the eight days of Hanukkah. And the week of Kwanzaa.
Actually, there’s enough here to carry into the New Year, way past April Fool’s Day (U.S. Sen. Craig James!) and onto the Fourth of July. Maybe even into Halloween. What ridiculous costume are you going to wear? Me, I’m thinking of going as U.S. Sen. Craig James.

  3. MarkThanks for the link and another good read from Johnson. A week or so ago I linked a piece here and at the Plumline re Ron Paul and all hell broke loose over there. Wbgonne picked it up and has been touting some of Paul's ideas over there ever since and been catching hell for it…..you know the Plumline drill. Anyway, I think Paul could give us all something to think about and his work on auditing the Fed was really outstanding. Other than that, he's a bit of a loose cannon for me obviously. Most of his views are really abhorrent regarding social issues etc. for progressives and quite honestly Libertarianism seems somewhat "Lord of the Flies" like to me when taken to its conclusion. I do think both he and Huntsman are much better than the GS administration regarding the banks though.

  4. I couldn't have expressed my opinions on Paul better than lmsinca just did (although apparently I'm about to try). I like having his voice and perspective in the mix, but there are too many negatives, particularly on social issues, to the libertarian perspective to make me seriously consider supporting him.

The question is which direction do we need to go in now?I'd put up with a lot of Paul's craziness in exchange for ending the drug war, reconsidering our overseas military commitments and a reevaluation of the use of loose monetary policy by the Federal Reserve as a cure all for all economic problems. Ideally, we'd have Gary Johnson elected instead who is the libertarian with actual gubernatorial executive experience and much less baggage.
