There seems to be a problem with the site. All posts are showing up in italics. I am investigating, but if anyone has any ideas, let me know.
Update 9:52 est: Still no solution. I’ve looked through and tried to adjust the CSS, but nothing works. Seems like a higher level problem. I’ve contacted WordPress and await their answer.
Update 12:10 est: All fixed. My error. When I updated the quotation of the day, I had a bad html tag, which (surprisingly, to me) fed through to the entire site. All better. Back to your regularly scheduled program.

Thanks Scott, it’s weird that the notify me of follow-up comments showed up at approximately the same time. I guess there are worse problems though.

Also, I just noticed the quotation of the day is not in italics, if that means anything.

Yeah, I noticed that too about the quotation. It’s all very strange. Something about the formatting of the text box is overriding whatever it is that is forcing the rest to be in italics. But I can’t override it in any other place. A bit of a mystery. Will keep investigating it.

I’m out for the rest of the morning all, on the way to rental property to work in the back yard……..we can’t touch anything else until next weekend………sheesh
I’ll check in this afternoon.

Another interesting thing…all of the headers on each post are in normal text. So somehow those are also being overridden by a specific command somehow.

I randomly visited several other WordPress blogs and did not see the issue occurring on any of them (although none I looked at use the same format as ATiM). Is it just ATiM?

BTW, on a different problem, both lms and okie have apparently been getting e-mail notifications whenever a comment gets posted on particular posts. In the last hour it has started to happen to me, too. I’m not sure what is causing it, but if it starts to happen, the quick fix is to go into the e-mail notification, and at the bottom click on the “Subscription options”. This will bring you to a page where you can “unsubscribe” to the post that is sending you notifications. In addition, I also went to the settings page on that link, and checked the box that says “Block all email updates from blogs you’re following on WordPress.com”. Hopefully this will prevent all future notifications, even if whatever it is that is subscribing us to particular posts continues to do so.

Scott, I’m having that problem too. Where is the “settings” page?

In the e-mail notification, click on “Subscription options” and that will bring you to a web page. At the top of that page, just under the WordPress logo, there is a menu that says “Sites/Comments/Settings”. Click on settings there.

Thanks. Hopefully, that will work.

Those sneaky little html codes can turn on you in a heartbeat. One of my tasks at work is to maintain a particular website, which has very wonky software. Some html codes are allowed, but underlining is not. I recently forgot myself and used underlining code. This was such a serious violation that the site automatically booted me out and reported me to our IT folks as a “security threat.” It took two days to get my login reinstated. I had no idea underlining was so insidious.

Underlining is a Neo-fascist/pinko-Commie/Keynesian plot, okie. You didn’t know that? 🙂

Michi, I blame Obama.
lms, I suppose I could be a security threat in the same sense you mention (inadvertently doing something with huge consequences). That is precisely why I have never poked around the innards here except as required.

I’m just glad someone around here knows how to fix this crap, even if it was their fault in the first place……………haaaaaahaaaaaaaa. When I was looking around yesterday trying to figure out how to fix the email notification problem I noticed all sorts of trouble I could have gotten into, including deleting the entire blog……yikes, somebody hide my keys please.
Okie, you a security threat?……lol
Hi michi, happy to see you. Looks like you gave Emily a tough one.

Okie,
Sounds like you need either a new website or a new IT department. Or that you are secretly a member of Anonymous/lulzsec.
Scott,
Thanks for the email fix.
