MsJS, how fun for a Friday evening! I do not know “Junior Birdmen”? Know anything about it? Of course I remember Purple People Eater and Monster Mash. I remember Ipana, but not that particular snip. That seems too long to have been a commercial (or has that changed too).

“The Kangaroo Song” [sung to the tune of the Soldier’s Chorus from Gounod’s Faust]
My Mother killed me a kangaroo
gave me the gristly part to chew
wasn’t that a helluva thing to do?
to give me to chew
the gristly part
of a dead kangaroo

OMG, MsJS, I watched all four of them once I got them to click and play. . . the scary part is that the “Flying Purple People Eater” and “Monster Mash” made top-40 appearances when I was in my teens–which means they were revived!
This is a great idea for Friday nights. . . trips down Memory Lane–thanks!!!

The animation on that Monster Mash video was amazing. That looks like a lot of work.

Various forms of “Junior Birdmen” floated around for years. The BrothersJS sang one version in the car a lot. Here’s another from the 1955 film “To Hell and Back.”

It’s apparently a scouting campfire song as well.

I learned JB in Boy Scouts.
Also, “Army Life”.
They told me in the Army, the girls are mighty fine
You ask for Betty Grable, they give you Frankenstein
Chorus:
Oh, I don’t want no more of army life
Gee, ma, I wanna go
Oh, ma, I wanna go
Gee, ma, I wanna go home!
They told me in the Army, the food is mighty fine
A pea rolled off the table and broke a leg of mine.
They told me in the Army, the whiskey’s mighty fine
You order up a stiff one, they serve ya turpentine!
They told me in the Army, they love ta sing and dance
But no one said those Nazis would shoot me in the pants!
They told me in the Army, the coffee’s mighty fine,
It’s good for cuts and bruises, and tastes like iodine.
