Help! (Since We Don’t Have a MR Until Tomorrow)

I’m in the midst of forming an LLC and need a catchy name.  The focus of my business is scientific technical writing–papers and grants and such in the life sciences arena.

You guys are a clever bunch–what springs to mind?  Thanks in advance!

    Or, my perennial favorite,

    Zydecho Trainwreck. 😉

    Your welcome to either.

  3. Any decent idea I have is already taken. I’m particularly fond of Bioscribe. There’s a UK company that goes under Biowrite.co.uk with a similar aim. Lifesci is available. Something along the lines of life/sci-write might work .

    • Will you be solo or do you envision having a team?
only reason i ask — i interviewed with a former colleague a few weeks ago who purposely did not use an eponymous name b/c he didn’t want clients always asking for him. he was selling the team and its expertise as part of the brand, rather than just him (not that i’m suggesting your doing that)

odd interview. he spent 30 minutes talking to me about branding.

  7. NoVA–just me; I’m not planning on being a job creator (other than helping folks get funding so that they can hire people).

And that would be an odd interview! Just testing the waters, or thinking about changing jobs?

  8. jnc–very close. I’m still mulling; turns out I can’t incorporate anyway until I move. I have to have a “Registered Agent” who has a physical street address in MD. Since that will be me. . .

testing waters. I have a goal of an interview (or at least a prospect lunch) per quarter.
keeps me up to date on what the market is doing. and I like to pass along solid leads if possible.

  10. Are you planning on having a lawyer help you draw up the LLC documentation? If so, you may wish to have them be the registered agent.

No, it’s actually quite easy. There’s even a website (Nolo that walks you through the steps. Pretty straightforward.

  14. Grants and papers. Writing, polishing, and preparing for submission according to journal requirements (and every god damned life sciences journal has its own requirements! I don’t know if Paul runs into this with physics journals, but if you get a manuscript turned down by one journal you can’t just turn around and submit to another–you have to completely reformat it sometimes. Argh!!!!!()
