The Age of Reason

Julia Sweeney on the Age of Reason, from her one-woman show “Letting Go of God”.

“This meant I was a Libra?”

Includes a cute story about getting pitched on Mormonism by two Mormon missionaries.

  1. Her little story about the LDS missionaries reminds me of the infinitely more profane 'Book of Mormon' Broadway show. You don't have to exaggerate the events in the Mormon theology much to make it absolutely hilarious.

  2. You should try living amongst them, yello. It fluctuates between absolutely hilarious and hair-pullingly frustrating. 🙂

  5. yello: I'd like to see The Book of Mormon. I loved Southpark's episode where they make friends with the Mormon kid. It both lampooned Mormon theology, and the kids for being dicks about it.Scott: So much the same as living amongst liberals, then. 😉Or amongst the conservatives, for liberals. Humans tend towards tribalism, especially when it comes to religion and politics. But also movies, and choice of computer OS. 😉 And it's always frustrating when you have to mix with the other tribes, who just don't get it. Sheesh! Frickin' Windows clones.

  9. Linux nuts are the crackpot libertarians of the computer world. "Open source! Open source!" Bah . . . OSX sits on top of the Mach kernel. And provides for a robust and accessible consumer experience. If you want to compare the availability of functional enterprise solutions, Microsoft wins. Alas! I've had some recent experience looking for an enterprise level directory system for Linux, and trying to implement Open Directory on Mac OSX. In the real world, it appears the options are Active Directory, and also, Active Directory. Scott: Really? I never would've known.bsimon is already getting me riled up this morning with his wild-eyed Linux prosletyzing. Don't make me punch you. 😛
