As if the Fukushima area of Japan doesn’t have enough problems, now it has Typhoon Roke.
Tunisian refugees clash with riot police on a tiny Italian island.
Post-apartheid leadership in South Africa isn’t exactly what many hoped for. Some feel it’s more concerned about power struggles within the ANC than with addressing the country’s problems.
Mexico’s drug wars continue, with bodies of the dead dumped along busy roads.
I could go on, but you get the idea.
Some days, most days, I’m grateful for the relative calm in my area of the world.

I deleted mine and dumped a link into yours, Kevin. Thanks!

MsJSI love the label……….gratitude. I've never been to another country other than Canada or Mexico. But I've traveled extensively in Mexico and love the people, the beaches, the fishing and the food. Unfortunately, even though I have a cousin-in-law who's very dear to me and whose family is from Mexico, I can't go anymore. That's how bad it is. She goes still, but not recently, to visit her uncles and a few cousins she is close to, but her husband hasn't been in five years and their 6 year old son has only been once. It's so sad really. And then there's always CA. I know, I know, apparently we have the worst of everything to some people but I wouldn't live anywhere else. We live almost exactly equal distance from the beach, the mountains and the desert, who cares if we're broke and the traffic is horrendous. That's why we get up so early, to beat the traffic.

Make sure your link is still there. I just updated it . . . may have overwritten what you did. That's the downside to all of us working on the same post. 😉

Smaller scale, but closer to home. Yikes!I'll be interested in seeing what they figure out about this one. It isn't widely known, but the Italian Mob was/maybe still is active in the Detroit area.

lmsinca: I was just in San Diego recently. The weather is soooo beautiful there. I loved it. While it was scorching and humid back home, I was in balmy, breezy San Diego.

KevinAccording to many, San Diego County has the best weather in the country. I went to school down there for two years and we camp at a lot of their beaches. One of them you can walk right up to the border fence in the water. We're hotter up here in the summer and cooler in the winter as we're closer to the desert, but we love it. I'm sitting at my desk looking out at Cleveland National Forest in the distance, the neighborhood palm trees swaying in the wind and a big blue sky. I also see our fence along one side of the property that's covered in perennial morning glories.Sorry, I'm rambling.

For what it costs to live here + what we gain from living here, I'd say its one hell of a good deal.
